Municipal EMS deployment focuses around a minimum of seven (7) 24-hour dedicated paramedic level transport ambulances. They are supported by more than a half dozen additional non-dedicated paramedic level transport Rockingham ambulances, which regularly operate throughout our service area. Rockingham utilizes a single tier ALS staffing plan to guarantee the highest level of response possible to all emergent requests. The relatively small geographic coverage area and our use of a blend of both flexible and static deployment strategies make a highly effective deployment plan possible. Minimum ALS staffing consists of a Nationally Registered Paramedic and a Nationally Registered EMT-Intermediate. Specially designed Wheeled Coach Type III ambulances comprise the bulk of our ALS fleet and are currently being updated with Wheeled Coach’s newest model of ambulance, the CitiMedic. The CitiMedic design offers additional payload capability, space flexibility and a higher degree of comfort for both our crews and patients.

Technologically speaking, Rockingham operates one of the most progressive EMS systems in America. 12 lead EKG data field transmissions, GPS vehicle tracking, digital 800 mgz radio systems and on-board vehicle driving monitoring systems are just a few of the ways we use technology to both improve patient care and maximize employee safety. |

In all of the communities we serve, Rockingham works closely with the local Police Departments, FAST squads and Fire Departments who offer first response. Most are equipped with automatic defibrillators and BLS first aid supplies. All equipment is fully compatible and all departments work together in training and service enhancement. During mass casualty situations, Rockingham medics fill the role of Medical Branch Officer within the Incident Command Structure. Rockingham management staff also provides logistical support and EMS management services to each communities Emergency Operations Center. Medics that work on our dedicated EMS
units also rotate through other ambulance roles as well. This allows
ample opportunity for all medics to answer demanding emergency calls
as well as take those sharpened skills to our other areas of business;
Critical Care Transport and Basic Life Support services.
