Rockingham Regional Ambulance Receives National Accreditation

September 20, 2000 - Rockingham Regional Ambulance (RRA), New Hampshire's preeminent emergency transport service, has recently received full accreditation from the National Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services - the first and only ambulance service in New Hampshire to have received this certification.
Christopher Stawasz, Executive Director of RRA, called the accreditation a "gold standard for emergency medical transport. For those we serve, it means that we achieved the highest possible rating from an independent national organization for ambulance services." Mr. Stawasz went on to say that RRA was only the 78th ambulance company in the United States to have received this certification, and the only one north of Connecticut to be so accredited.
The on-site survey conducted this past spring for RRA included review of clinical data, patient surveys, transport and response times, business practices, and adherence to protocols and procedures. RRA's accreditation preparation team was lead by Mr. Stawasz, Sarah McEntee, Accreditation Coordinator and David Lacaillade, Education & Training Manager. "Sarah and Dave deserve a lot of credit for this honor as well," said Mr. Stawasz. "They played a critical role in helping us prepare for the survey and acting as liaisons to the commission members during the survey itself."
With facilities in Manchester, Nashua and Milford, Rockingham Regional Ambulance is New Hampshire's largest provider of medical transportation services, responding to nearly 30,000 requests for service each year. The service employs over 90 local people and operates a fleet of 23 vehicles. RRA is a member of St. Joseph Healthcare.
"From those of us who have worked with the folks at Rockingham, this recognition comes as no surprise," said Pam Duchene, DCNc, RN, CRRN, Vice President of Patient Services for St. Joseph Healthcare. "The overall skills, professionalism, and compassion for their patients truly set Rockingham apart. Residents of southern New Hampshire are fortunate to have such a fine company available to them in case of emergency."
