Rockingham Upgrades Defibrillation Technology & starts 12 lead EKG program
April 22, 2002 - Rockingham Ambulance recently completed the purchase of new EKG/Defibrillation units for all of its primary 9-1-1 ambulances. The new LifePak 12 units are equipped with the latest "bi-phasic" defibrillation technology as well as 12 lead EKG technology.
Shown to increase the chances for survival of sudden cardiac arrest, this technology will be put to use immediately. Rockingham Paramedics will begin transmitting 12 lead EKG's directly to the medical control physician in the emergency room while at the scene or enroute to the hospital. This will shave precious minutes from the time required to begin thrombolytic (clot busting) care for the patient when they arrive in the emergency room.
