Outstanding Emergency Medical Professionals at Annual Stars of Life Tribute in Washington D.C.

May 20, 1999, Nashua, New Hampshire - As part of National Emergency Medical Services Week (May 16-22), the American Ambulance Association held its annual "Stars of Life" tribute on May 17, 1999 at the Loews L'Enfant Plaza Hotel in Washington D.C. The nearly 100 "Stars" honored at this event were Paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians, dispatchers, and other ambulance service personnel from across the entire nation. These "Stars" were recognized for their outstanding commitment and dedication to their life-saving profession.

Four local Emergency Medical Providers were honored at this year's event. Paramedics; David Deacon, Jason Preston, Roland Vaillancourt, along with EMT-Intermediate Joanna Umenhofer, represented the State of New Hampshire for the first time at this national event. New Hampshire's Stars, all employed by Rockingham Regional Ambulance, Inc., were chosen by their peers for their clinical excellence, positive work ethic and dedication to compassionate patient care.

The three day event involved many activities throughout Washington D.C., including the opportunity for New Hampshire's "Stars" to meet with U.S. Senators Judd Gregg and Bob Smith, as well as Congressman John Sununu, to discuss legislative issues affecting pre-hospital emergency medical services.

Paramedic David Deacon was among four Rockingham Ambulance employees to be recognized in Washington, DC for dedication to EMS
